Privacy
Escape Map is designed to work without an account and to retain as little personal information as practical.
Information saved on your device
Your shortlist, finder preferences and resilience checklist remain until you clear them. Search-result caches expire after 24 hours and generated place reports expire after six hours. These values stay in this browser and are not uploaded to an Escape Map account.
Location searches
When you search, click the map or choose to use your current location, the necessary search text or coordinates are sent directly to the listed public-data providers to return the profile. Current providers include Photon and OpenStreetMap services, OSRM, Open-Meteo, UK Police open data and official census services. Shared profile URLs contain coordinates rounded to four decimal places. Do not search for an address if you do not want those coordinates processed by the relevant provider or retained in browser history.
Your device location
The browser asks for permission before sharing device location. Escape Map only uses the returned coordinates to open a place profile; the site does not continuously track you.
Hosting and security records
Cloudflare and the site’s data providers may process IP addresses, request details and other standard technical records for delivery, security, reliability and abuse prevention. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie such as __cf_bm. Escape Map does not currently run advertising trackers or sell a user profile.
Future commercial features
If accounts, newsletters, analytics, payments or advertising are introduced, this notice and any required consent controls must be updated before those features go live.
Your choices
You can deny location permission, avoid precise-address searches, use the clear-data control above, clear browser history, use private browsing and follow the linked provider policies in each report’s source section.
